Mr Ali was announced Honorary Peace and Non-Violence Ambassador in December 2012 in connection with a visit in Mexico City, arranged by the World Boxing Council.

His life was one of polarization and reconciliation, anger and love, and a ferocious, uncompromising commitment to nonviolence. During his life he organized non-violent protests in Albany, Georgia and Birmingham and even was willing to go to jail in opposition to the war in Vietnam.
